UCLA freshman forward Wanaah Bail underwent surgery Tuesday to remove cartilage in his injured left knee, according to a press release issued by UCLA Athletics.
Bail missed the first few games of the 2013-2014 season after undergoing surgery on the same knee on June 28. He re-injured the repaired knee on Monday.
Bail has been ruled out for at least the first weekend of the NCAA tournament, or what could be UCLA’s second- and third-round games in San Diego, and is questionable to return for any further postseason play.
In his first season as a Bruin, Bail has been the ninth man in an eight-man rotation, appearing in 13 games and averaging just 4.6 minutes, 1.6 points and 0.6 rebounds per game.
On Friday night against Stanford, Bail played six minutes, scoring two points off free throws and grabbing a rebound in an 84-59 win.
