UCLA's Adams, Anderson Headline First-Team All-Pac-12 Selections

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – UCLA sophomores Jordan Adamsand Kyle Anderson have captured first-team All-Pac-12 Conference honors and Zach LaVine and Bryce Alford have secured Pac-12 All-Freshman Team acclaim, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
In addition, Adams and junior Norman Powell secured honorable mention Pac-12 All-Defensive Team accolades.
Adams (17.5 ppg) and Anderson (14.9 ppg) have been the Bruins’ top two scorers all season, respectively. Anderson has averaged closer to a triple-double than any other player in the nation, logging 8.7 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game in 30 contests.
Anderson leads all Pac-12 players with 15 double-doubles and is the only player in the conference to rank in the top five in rebounds (8.7), assists (6.6) and steals (1.7). Anderson earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors as a freshman in 2012-13.
Adams ranks seventh in the conference in scoring (17.5 ppg) while also averaging 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per contest as a sophomore. The 6-foot-5 guard from Atlanta has shot 83.8 percent from the free throw line, the fourth-highest percentage among Pac-12 players. Adams was named an honorable mention All-Freshman Team selection last season.
LaVine has registered 10.5 points per game, the fourth-highest scoring average on UCLA’s team and the third-highest average among Pac-12 freshmen. The 6-foot-5 guard from Seattle has shot 45.5 percent overall, the fifth-highest percentage among Pac-12 freshmen. LaVine’s 40.2 percentage from the three-point arc ranks third among Pac-12 freshmen, just percentage points behind teammate Bryce Alford.
Alford has averaged 8.5 points and 2.8 assists per game while shooting 80.0 percent from the free throw line, the 10th-best mark in the Pac-12. Alford’s 2.26 assist turnover ratio leads all UCLA players (minimum 2.0 assists per game), having recorded 86 assists and just 38 turnovers in the Bruins’ 31 games.
The All-Pac-12 Team consists of 10 first-team selections and five second-team selections with honorable mention candidates having received at least three votes. The All-Freshman and All-Defensive teams include five players each.
Arizona guard Nick Johnson secured Pac-12 Player of the Year honors, while Arizona forward Aaron Gordon captured Pac-12 Freshman of the Year accolades. Arizona State’s Jordan Bachynski was named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year, and Stanford’s Anthony Brown was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. Arizona head coach Sean Miller was named the Pac-12’s John Wooden Coach of the Year.
