LOS ANGELES -- UCLA Bruins freshman Kyle Anderson missed practice Tuesday because of an illness, and fellow freshman Jordan Adams had to leave practice because of nausea, though he eventually returned, coach Ben Howland said.
Both players were going to see a doctor Tuesday evening and Howland said he hoped both would be able to practice Wednesday before the Bruins leave for a two-game trip to Arizona and Arizona State.
"He had a stomach virus or (something) gastro intestinal," Howland said of Anderson. "We think Jordan has the same thing."
Shabazz Muhammad, another freshman, said he suspected it was food poisoning from a local Mexican eatery. Muhammad said he ate at the same establishment but didn't get lettuce on his food while Anderson and Adams did.
"I dodged a bullet," Muhammad said. "They said it was the lettuce. I never like to get lettuce so I don't know."
Anderson is UCLA's leading rebounder with 9.1 per game and Adams is the team's second-leading scorer at 15.2 points. UCLA plays Arizona in a crucial Pac-12 game Thursday night at 6 p.m. PT on ESPN2 and will play at Arizona State on Saturday afternoon.
