SAN FRANCISCO – UCLA junior guard Isaac Hamilton has earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors, the Pac-12 Conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Hamilton, who enters the Pac-12 Tournament this week as the league's third-leading scorer (17.1 ppg), was named to the five-person second team for the first time in his career.
In addition, junior guard Bryce Alford has secured honorable mention All-Pac-12 honors for the second consecutive season. Alford ranks second on the team in scoring (16.3 ppg) and sixth among all Pac-12 players.
Hamilton has scored in double figures in each of the Bruins' last 27 games and in 29 of UCLA’s 31 total contests. The 6-foot-5 guard from Los Angeles has averaged 17.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game, starting all 31 games. Hamilton has scored at least 20 points in a team-leading 11 games. He also ranks second in scoring in the Pac-12 in league games only (18.3 ppg).
Alford has scored in double figures in 27 of UCLA’s 31 games. The 6-foot-3 guard from Albuquerque, N.M., currently ranks second in the Pac-12 in assists per game (5.3) and assist-turnover ratio (2.9). Earlier this season, Alford became UCLA’s first player since Earl Watson (1998-2001) to have dished at least 100 assists in each of his first three seasons in Westwood.
The All-Pac-12 Team consists of 10 first-team selections and five second-team selections with honorable mention candidates having received at least three votes. The All-Freshmen and All-Defensive teams include five players each.
The Pac-12 plans to announce the conference’s Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player of the Year and Coach of the Year awards on Monday evening. Fans can watch the unveiling of those annual awards during the Pac-12 Networks’ show “Pac-12 Sports Report,” set to air at 6 p.m. (PT).
