LOS ANGELES – The UCLA basketball program has received a signed National Letter of Intent from high school senior Aaron Holiday on the first day of the early signing period, it was announced today by head coach Steve Alford.
Holiday, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound guard out of Campbell Hall High School (North Hollywood, Calif.), will enroll at UCLA in the fall of 2015 and begin his freshman season in 2015-16.
"Aaron is a very talented player who we know will really help our backcourt next season," Alford said. "He is a quick, tough guard who possesses the ability to be both an efficient scorer and a lockdown defender. Our coaching staff is excited to add a player of Aaron’s caliber, both on and off the court, to our 2015 class, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the Bruin family."
The younger brother of former UCLA standout Jrue Holiday, Aaron has been ranked the No. 36 player in this class by Scout.com. Rated the No. 58 player, nationally, by Rivals.com and No. 85 by ESPN.com, he averaged over 30 points per game last season before earning CIF Southern Section Division 4A Player of the Year honors.
Holiday has secured All-CIF Southern Section Division 4A honors in each of his three seasons at Campbell Hall. He was the only sophomore (2012-13) and freshman (2011-12) to earn All-CIF acclaim in those respective years.
Aaron’s older brother, Jrue, played at UCLA in 2008-09 before being selected in the first round of the NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. Jrue is currently in his sixth NBA season, now playing for the New Orleans Pelicans. Aaron’s older sister, Lauren, played for the UCLA women’s basketball team the past two seasons.
