OAK BROOK, Ill. - UCLA men’s basketball signees Kevon Looney and Thomas Welsh are among 24 high school standouts who have been selected to play in the 2014 McDonald’s All American Game in Chicago on April 2.
Looney, a 6-foot-9 forward from Hamilton High School in Milwaukee, Wisc., and Welsh, a 7-foot center from Loyola High School in Los Angeles, signed National Letters of Intent in Nov. 2013 to enroll and play basketball at UCLA next season.
UCLA is one of five college programs this season to have at least two of its incoming student-athletes selected as McDonald’s All America selections (along with Duke, Kansas, Kentucky and North Carolina).
Prior to this season’s selections, UCLA has had 36 of its players named to the annual McDonald’s All America Game rosters. Two years ago, classmates Kyle Anderson, Shabazz Muhammad and Tony Parker were chosen as 2012 McDonald’s All America selections.
Including Anderson and Parker, UCLA currently has five players who were McDonald’s All Americans in high school (Isaac Hamilton, David Wear and Travis Wear).
The 37th McDonald’s All-American Boys High School Game will be played at Chicago’s United Center on April 2.
Congratulations, Kevon and Thomas!!!
