LOS ANGELES – The UCLA men’s basketball program has received signed National Letters of Intent from high school seniors Kevon Looney and Gyorgy Goloman during the early signing period, it was announced today by head coach Steve Alford.
Looney and Goloman will enroll at UCLA in the fall of 2014 and begin their freshman seasons in 2014-15.
“Kevon is one of the best players in the country in this class,” Alford said. “He is extremely skilled and versatile. Most importantly, he’s a winner. With Gyorgy, we love his ability to run the floor. He is one of the best passing big men we have seen in years. This is a tremendous start to the 2014 class, and we are excited to add these two great individuals to the Bruin family.”
Looney is ranked the No. 11 player in his class, nationally, by ESPN.com. The 6-foot-9 forward from Hamilton High School averaged 26.1 points, 12.4 rebounds and 7.0 blocks per game as a junior in 2012-13. He was invited to the 2013-14 USA Basketball Developmental National Team Mini-Camp.
Goloman entered his first year at The Sagemont School in Westmont, Fla., this fall after having moved to the United States from Hungary. He averaged 15.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game competing for Hungary at the 2013 European U18 Championships.
