GONE TOO SOON
(AP Photo/Carolyn Kaster)
Like a comet
Blazing 'cross the evening sky
Gone too soon
Like a rainbow
Fading in the twinkling of an eye
Gone too soon
Shiny and sparkly
And splendidly bright
Here one day
Gone one night
Like the loss of sunlight
On a cloudy afternoon
Gone too soon
Like a castle
Built upon a sandy beach
Gone too soon
Like a perfect flower
That is just beyond your reach
Gone too soon
Born to amuse, to inspire, to delight
Here one day
Gone one night
Like a sunset
Dying with the rising of the moon
Gone too soon
Gone too soon
Babyface Gone Too Soon
I guess the pundits were right. We go home after Nova.
That was a tough game to watch. I do not know what was more humbling, this defeat or our those to Florida and Memphis. I guess this being only the second round is more humbling.
Nova was exactly what the UCLA Med Center doctor did not order: athletic, long, quick, can crazy-shoot the 3. We could just not keep them in front of us when we were on defense. We were settling slapping, rather than stepping in front of their paths. I think this is why we got in foul trouble, and why Nova didn't, they were quick enough to beat us to every spot. I still think that Nova got away with alot, while we got away with too little. It's like the refs called Pac-10 calls against us while called Nova using the Big East rulebook. It also didn't help that they were shooting very well. And the homecrowd. It was just a perfect storm for our swan song in the tourney.
Also, when Nova got that big lead, I felt that UCLA was really deflated and unispired. The fight was still there, but it was in spurts and not all out. I don't know, if I were the coach, rather than putting in the reserves at the end, I would have kept fighting till the very end. Not for a more palatable final score but to really stay the course & fight until the very end. The reserves would still be here next year. Unless Coach B is thinking that we probably won't make the tourney next year.
Well, it's been a thrill ride. I guess we shouldn't be too surprised about how the season ended. I feel for the seniors, for Josh, DC and Prez Aboya. But they finished their UCLA careers commendably. Good luck to these fine gentlemen, in their basketball careers and in life, in general. WE WILL MISS YOU.
GO, BRUINS!!!
